Overview: This workshop is facilitated by 2 LGBTQ lawyer-mediators who will discuss the following topics and how they may have changed with the June 2015 Marriage Equality decision of the US Supreme Court:

  • The basic legal landscape for LGBTQ people who are separating, whether they are registered as domestic partners and/or married, or partnered without formal legal recognition;
  • The particular benefits for LGBTQ families of resolving their separation and post-separation conflicts outside of the courts; and
  • The characteristics of and differences among different consensual conflict resolution methods such as a direct resolution, mediation, and collaborative team practice.
